My young friend Mary took this awesome photo of me with my Olympus Trip 35 last weekend.  I love it that I can step out my front door and be in dense bushland within 5 minutes.

This week I made my first trip up to Kinglake since the February bushfires. My mother's sister and her family live up there - my cousins' homes were destroyed, as well as a couple of properties owned by my aunt and uncle.



It's been ten months since the bushfires, and the barren landscape has been softened by regrowth and rebuilding. It's simultaneously heartbreaking, encouraging and uplifting.

Abandoned fairyland.

While staying in regional NSW, I visited this abandoned magical land with my hosts Adam and Pene. It's so strange to see ruined gingerbread houses out in the bush!
