This photo by Facehunter Yvan Rodic made me want to look out some bike photos of my own!

And simultaneously miss Italy.  Sigh.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I've not seen as many bikes here in Hobart than there are in Melbourne!  Other than the hardcore cyclists powering up Nelson Rd, that is.  I guess it's because of the hills?

Yeah, I lived in Melbourne for 13 years and grew so accustomed to the pervasive cycle culture that I was a bit taken aback to return to Hobart and find it the exception rather than the rule. Living out beyond the flannel curtain though, I have the benefit of the grandly named Intercity Cycleway, and the moment I spy that magnificent humped bridge as I round the bend past the Bot gardens, I always gasp with joy. Sorry, random lyrical waxing.
I agree. I think the hills are a bit of a put-off. That and the fact that Hobart drivers are CRAP with little sense of cyclist respect or etiquette.
